Recap: Salomone Stays Undefeated at Home at the 2023 Southeast Regional Open
June 21, 2023 · By Council Staff
The 2023 Southeast Regional Open, held June 15 in Charleston, South Carolina, saw Michael Salomone post a 0:54 finish — a new personal best in the region and four seconds clear of runner-up Keisha Jefferson of Tennessee, who has never finished worse than fourth in the event but still hasn't cracked the top spot.
Florida's Gabriel Santos took third, continuing a steady climb up the regional rankings. Virginia's Isaiah Brennan and Louisiana's Tommy DeLacroix rounded out the top five, both regulars who travel in for the event most years.
Salomone, who was training that winter on what would become his spiral-cut debut later that year at Nationals, said the Southeast Regional Open has become something closer to a proving ground than a title defense. 'This is my home region — I test things here before I'd ever risk them on a national stage,' he said.
