Five Years of the Midwest Open: A Retrospective
May 23, 2025 · By Council Staff
The Midwest Open has rotated through four host cities in five sanctioned years, and its results show a genuinely open field: Minnesota's Casey Lindqvist, Ohio's Ray Abernathy, Illinois's Nadia Petrov, and Wisconsin's Trevor Lindholm have all won or podiumed multiple times, with no single competitor establishing the kind of dominance seen in North Carolina.
Regional organizers point to that parity as a selling point rather than a weakness — Midwest Open finals are, by margin of victory, consistently the closest of any regional series the Council sanctions outside the National Championship itself.
